The Lees-McRae College’s Fall Semester Theatre Productions Begin with “Anything Goes” Oct. 3-6

Oct. 1, 2013. The Lees-McRae Summer Theatre productions are a delight for many in the High Country. But just because summer is fading into autumn doesn’t mean that the theatrical delights have to fade away as well.

imgresThe Fall 2013 Production Calendar includes many productions by the student body to entertain and enthrall guests as winter creeps closer.

This year, the semester begins with “Anything Goes,” a musical, which is described as “the story of an evangelist-turned-nightclub singer, a lovelorn stockbroker wooing a lovely debutante, the debutante’s British lord fiancé, and a gangster disguised as a minister all turn up on a luxury cruise liner to sing, dance and romance.”

These performances are very different from the summer productions, in that the summer productions are performed and worked on by outside performers.

“During the school year, the performing arts is strictly student based,” said Megan Hall, director of communications for Lees-McRae College.

“The performances are done by students, the costumes and sets are made by students and the productions are directed by the faculty.”

Tickets for the show are still available and can be purchased at the door only and cost $12 per person and $5 for students and children. Lees-McRae students, faculty and staff get into the show for free!

The box office opens one hour to show time and will offer tickets until the venue meets capacity. The seating is general admission only with no reserved seating.

The other show of the fall season is “The Ash Girl” which will run from Nov. 21 to Nov. 24.

All performances are located in the Hayes Auditorium in the Broyhill Theatre.
