The High Country Rings in the New Year; Live Music All Over the Mountain to Celebrate the New Year’s Eve

Dec. 29, 2014. The holidays are almost over and that means that the new year is almost upon us. In the High Country, there is no better way to ring in New Year’s Day than a warm reception on New Year’s Eve, and up here that means live music, great specials and much more. Boone

The Local – downtown Boone’s hottest new venue for live music and great food – will host a special evening on New Year’s Eve, featuring live music, champagne, a special menu and the restaurant’s regular menu served all day and night. Live music for the evening will be provided by the eclectic sounds of Dirty Laundry featuring Judi Jackson and Inverted Sea, said Local owner Jean Borhman. Lost Province Brewing Company will host live music and dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 31 as part of its New Year’s Eve celebration. Live music for the night will begin at 9 p.m. and will feature Danny Whittington and Friends with a $5 cover charge which includes a champagne toast at the end of the evening. The restaurant’s full menu will be available until 10:30 p.m., followed by a special late-night menu for the remainder of the evening. For more information, call 828-265-3506.

Murphy’s Restaurant and Pub will celebrate the New Year with live music courtesy of Fat Cheek Kats out of Winston-Salem. The night will come with a $5 cover charge.

The Boone Town Tavern will celebrate New Year’s Eve with live DJ and karaoke master Jerry Parker, along with food and drink specials and a special midnight champagne toast. For more information about the festivities, call 828-264-2226.

Blowing Rock

On New Year’s Eve, Green Park Inn will host a three-course, early bird dinner at 6 p.m., to end at 8 p.m. The cost for this meal is $39.95 per person. The Early Bird meal will be followed by the New Year’s Eve Buffet, which will be held from 9-10:30 p.m. The evening will feature live entertainment courtesy of The Harris Brothers, a live DJ, snack foods and a midnight champagne toast to ring in the new year. The New Year’s Eve Buffet event will cost $75 per person. At midnight, guests can observe the annual “Lowering of Son of Green Bean,” a paper mache version of the famous Green Park Inn green horse. Reservations are requested.

On New Year’s Eve, Canyons in Blowing Rock will host Rubber Checks as the live music draw for the New Year’s Eve celebration. Music will begin at 10 p.m. with a $10 cover charge and the night will include a champagne toast at midnight.

Banner Elk

The Bayou Smokehouse and Grill will host the annual New Year’s Eve Party on Dec. 31. The restaurant will serve the full menu until midnight and will offer a free champagne toast and party favors for all guests in attendance. For more information, call 828-898-8952.
