1000 x 90

Ensemble Stage Presents The Complete History of America (Abridged), Opening this Saturday

July 5, 2012. Here’s an idea of what you’ll see in this 95 minute production: Three actors portraying over 30 characters, more than 30 costumes, over 100 props, 140+ light cues and over 70 sound cues. It’s sheer insanity! Professional actors Mark Allen Woodard (“Randolph” in Moon Over the Brewery) and Scott Douglas Wilson (“Teddy Roosevelt” in Three Americans) are joined on stage by ASU Theatre Major, Victor Rivera (“Renfield” in our staged radio drama, Dracula). Get your rest because these guys will wear you out just watching their fast-paced antics. America (Abridged) rehearsals are just plain NUTS!

It’s 12,000 years in 6,000 fast-paced, zany seconds. From Columbus to Clinton, from Lewis and Clark to Reagan and Bush and from the Bering Straits to Bahgdad, The Complete History of America (Abridged) is the Marx Brothers meets The Daily Show spiced with the Three Stooges and Saturday Night Live. So whether you’re an American History buff or just a good-ol red blooded American, The Complete History of America (Abridged) is sure to remind you, it’s not the length of your history that counts, it’s what you do with it.

Performances of “….America (Abridged)” are July 7, 9, 10, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and on July 8 and 15 at 2 p.m.

Don’t Forget Complimentary Wine and Hors d’oeuvres on Opening Night.

This season Ensemble Stage has partnered with The Inn at Ragged Garden’s Maple Lodge to make opening nights even more special. If you’re a ticket holder to any opening nights this season, make sure you come a little early to the lawn next door at the Maple Lodge for some complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. Even if you’re not a donor or a season ticket holder. Even if you walk up and get your tickets right before the show, you’re welcome to join in on the hors d’oeuvres action. It’s just our way of saying thanks to you for helping us raise the curtain on another great production.

The Frog Prince Cometh to the Blowing Rock School Auditorium:

The Tale of the Frog Prince

In the heart of a magical swamp lives a crusty prince-turned-frog who wants to become human again but, as he sings, “No one wants to kiss a toad,” into this swamp comes a noisy, haughty royal family with young Rosalie, whose kiss turns the frog back into a (very surprised!) prince. You will learn as much of a lesson as the prince since you (the audience) will participate equally in the action.

Thanks to ASU Department of Theater and Dance Professor Derek Gagnier, Ensemble Stage is proud to present this delightful, musical audience participation play.

The performance is Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium.

Tickets are $5 each at the door.
