Aug. 10, 2012. If you find yourself wanting a great meal and some live music to go along with it the Banner Elk Café is great place to have both on Saturday evenings.

This Saturday, Aug. 11, the café hosts Jonathan Maness, a Knoxville-based country music multi-instrumentalist and producer.

“I love playing guitar. I fell in love with the sound of the steel-string acoustic guitar at an early age, and I love it to the point of not being able to keep a day job. There you go, I’ve said it,” reads Maness’ website.

“He’s very good. He’s got a great voice,” said Cindy Broussard, co-owner of Banner Elk Café.

Live music at the café runs almost year round. The only time they do not have performers is from the beginning of November until Christmas. During the summer months the shows are on the patio and during the winter months they are typically upstairs in the coffee shop area of the café.

The café has been hosting live music for about seven years now according to Broussard and it has become a popular event each weekend for High Country Residents.

“A lot of people come out to listen to the music and to have dinner,” said Broussard. “It’s something more than just dinner, it’s the whole experience of sitting on the deck and listening to music.”

Next Saturday the café will host Sound Traveler and then on Aug. 25 Maness will again make the drive from Knoxville to Banner Elk.
