Consisting of never-before-seen original works, the auditions for this production are open to all students from any major, whether they want to perform or choreograph, and consists of approximately 120 auditionees chosen by faculty members. These faculty directors include Susan Lutz, Sherone Price and Regina Gulick-James. Student choreographers include Jordan Melton, Brooke Rideout, Kayla Fitzpatrick, Tonya Lucas and Meaghan Philbrook. The dances offer a variety of styles being brought to the stage, mostly modern, but will include Latin, Irish, Modern, Krumping and Traditional African to mention a few.

This year’s program includes two pieces choreographed by faculty and five by students. A special work in Spring Appalachian Dance Ensemble is a Mendiani African dance choreographed by Sherone Price. He says this year is the first ever that includes an African dance piece. Price is a professional dancer with vast experience in the arts of African dance, who pulled much of his inspiration from the exotic dance of Meniani. This dance is performed as a right of passage for women in Africa, and is performed as a celebration in America.
