Dec. 4, 2012. Studio K Youth Ballet Company will present its 15th annual production of the Nutcracker Ballet, Saturday, Dec. 15 at  3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. This year’s production will be performed at the Watauga High School Auditorium, due to renovations at Farthing Auditorium.

The story begins at the home of Clara Stahlbaum, whose parents are hosting a Christmas party. Clara receives a nutcracker doll as a gift from her godfather, and she falls asleep as the party ends. Clara awakens to a room filled with giant mice, life-sized toy soldiers and dolls and her Nutcracker Prince; who rescues her by slaying the Rat King. The Nutcracker Prince leads Clara on a magical journey through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets.

Studio K’s production of The Nutcracker is a Christmas tradition in the High country with hundreds of dancers and more than 400 costumes. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. You can buy tickets online at http://nutcrackertickets.eventbrite.com or at Watauga High School pre-show.
