Student Music Therapy Club Sponsors Autism Benefit Concert in the Rosen Concert Hall at ASU, April 28

April 24, 2012. On April 28, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., the Appalachian Music Therapy Student Association will host a concert in Rosen Concert Hall in the Broyhill Music Center to raise autism awareness and benefit the Autism Society of North Carolina.  Local musicians will perform a wide variety of music, and guest speakers will talk about their experiences with autism. 

Acapella groups Enharmonix, the Mountain Ayres, and Lost in Sound will perform, as well as local singer Cici Kromah.  Several members of the Appalachian Music Therapy Student Association will also perform.  Speakers include Kendall White, a camp counselor for the Autism Society of North Carolina’s summer camp, John L’Heureux, creator and owner of L’Heureux’s Weather Facebook Page, and Carlyn Waller, senior music therapy major who has worked with clients with autism.  The concert will last approximately 90 minutes.

Donations will be accepted, and baked goods will be sold before and after the show.  All proceeds will go to the Autism Society of North Carolina.
