Steinback, Hall and Adcock to lead Appalachian’s Board of Trustees; Elected at Sept. 21 Quarterly Meeting

Sept. 25, 2012. Michael A. Steinback of Asheville, Avery Hall of Kernersville and Bradley T. Adcock of Cary have been elected officers on Appalachian State University’s Board of Trustees.

Steinback was elected chairman of the board, Hall was elected vice chairman and Adcock was re-elected secretary following action taken at the board’s Sept. 21 meeting. Their terms of office will run through September 2013. 

Steinback first began serving on Appalachian’s Board of Trustees in 2007, when he was appointed to a four-year term by the UNC Board of Governors. Hall was appointed to a second four-year term on the board in March by Gov. Bev Perdue. Adcock was appointed to a four-year term on the board by Gov. Perdue in 2009. He previously served on Appalachian’s Board of Trustees from 1995-97.

Steinback is a partner in Stonebridge Partners, a private equity firm in Asheville focused on acquiring and successfully growing middle-market manufacturing businesses. He was previously president and CEO of CII Technologies Inc., a leading diversified manufacturer of advanced control electronic components.

He is a graduate of Indiana University and the DeVry Institute of Technology.

Hall is a senior vice president with Wells Fargo in Greensboro. He joined the banking company in 1993 when it was Wachovia. Hall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications and public relations from Appalachian in 1993 and an MBA from Pfeiffer University.

Hall was a defensive tackle on the Mountaineer football team. The Gainesville, Ga., native was inducted into Appalachian’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Northeast Georgia History Center Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. He served as a football analyst for Appalachian Sports Network for seven years.

Adcock is a 1976 graduate of Appalachian. He is vice president for government affairs with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and has been employed with the health care insurance provider since 1978.

Adcock also served on the UNC Board of Governors from 1997-2009. He received the Appalachian State University Alumni Council’s Outstanding Service Award in 2010 and the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1999.
