Perkinsville Apartments and Greensboro-based RAB Partners, LLC are awaiting final approval to begin constructing the planned Skyline Terrace Apartments near New Market Center in Boone.

On April 27, RAB Partners, LLC Manager Randy Dixon filed a Special Use Permit for an 11.5-acre estate owned by Anna M. Greene, located at 140 Marich Lane. The permit also listed Valor Engineering, PLLC as the prime designer.

According to a preliminary site plan, Skyline Terrace Apartments will offer 92 one-bedroom unites and 92 two-bedroom units. When constructed, the complex will be approximately 185,000 square feet.

“As a Greensboro company, we’re very excited to do a project in Boone,” said Dixon. “Our goal is to provide the community quality housing with traditional one and two bedroom apartments.”

Dixon said a physical address has yet to be established, but the new apartments will be located “near Marich Lane,” adjacent to the East Village Apartments and the Bojangles on U.S. 421.

On June 23, Jason Gaston, on behalf of Perkinsville Apartments and RAB Partners, LLC, made an appearance before the Planning & Inspections Department to request deviations to Article 25: Community Appearance Standards and Article 15: District Use Requirements.

In the community appearance meeting, Gaston requested “a review of the proposed freestanding garages and carports,” as well as “a deviation to allow the main building entries not to face the primary public way.”

Each one of Gaston’s requests was granted after the vote on June 23 passed unanimously, under the condition that the commission must approve the architectural integration of any proposed garages and carports, as well as any alternatives to the appearance standards as stated under Articles 25 & 15.

RAB Partners, LLC and Valor Engineering, PLLC have already submitted blueprints, artist renderings and topographical surveys, and are awaiting final approval.

“We probably won’t have final approval for the Skyline Terrace Apartments until at least November of this year,” Dixon said. “Naturally, we won’t begin construction in winter, so it will probably begin in the spring of next year.”
