Dec. 24, 2014. Santa Claus will be at the Boone Mall until 6 p.m. to hear last-minute wishes from the little boys and girls of the High Country. A photographer with Boone Portraits is also on hand to capture photos of kids sitting on Santa’s lap.
Once the clock strikes 6 p.m., however, Santa will have to hurry. He has quite a bit of work to do before all the children wake up at the crack of dawn, drag their parents out of bed and tear into the presents like a pack of wolves.
Be sure to check out the online Santa tracker before bed. The website – www.noradsanta.org – tracks Santa as he makes his way from the North Pole into homes all over the world.
Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots at Boone Mall
Representatives of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots organization are at the Boone Mall until 6 p.m. as well.
An American holiday tradition, this program began in 1947 by Maj. Bill Hendricks in the Los Angeles area. Since that first holiday, the Toys for Tots program has collected and distributed more than 470 million toys for young kids in need. In the past 10 years, the program has distributed an average of nearly 17 million toys to more than 6.5 million less fortunate children.
