Nov. 6, 2012. Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park, located just east of Boone on U.S. 421, hosted the Rocky Knob Fall Festival on Oct. 27. Rocky Knob offers several miles of trails for mountain cyclists of various skill levels as well as specialized areas to focus on skills training.

Intended to raise awareness about the park and funds for local organizations, the festival had approximately 70 participants, coming from as far away as Alaska and from all different age groups. It also raised $400, which will benefit both the Boone Area Cyclists and the Appalachian State University Recreation Management Association Scholarship.

Rocky Knob Fall Festival organizers would like to thank all those who supported and came out for the festival including: Bald Guy Brew, Cane Creek, Black Cat, Stick Boy, Earth Fare, Magic Cycles, Boone Bike and Touring, Tsuga Canopies, Bandanas, Giro, Bell, Specialized, Localbomb, Mountain Khakis, Powerbar, Beech Mountain Resort, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sky Valley, JoLynn Mahoney, Roachel Laney, Harris Teeter, Ingles, Lowes Foods, Boone Area Cyclists, Jay and Heather Schultz, Mountain Drew Fuller; Appalachian State University Cycling Team members Matt McCarter, Andrew Devier-Scott and Alex Jerome; Appalachian State University Recreation Management students Diane Creamer, John Brundick, Adam Creed, James Lautzenheiser and Stiles Rader and MC Trill Will Washam.
