Oct. 19, 2012. The Appalachian Repertory Orchestra and Appalachian Concert Band will perform in concert Oct. 24 at Appalachian State University. Admission is free. The concert, in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall, begins at 8 p.m. with the repertory orchestra.
The program is comprised of “Crown Imperial Coronation March” by William Walton, the allegretto movement from “Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92” by Ludwig van Beethoven, “Pavane” from Morton Gould’s “American Symphonette No. 2” and “Danse Bacchanale” from Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Samson and Delila.”
The orchestra is conducted by Will Selle.
The concert band will perform “Festivo” by Edward Gregson, “Contra Qui, Rose” by Morton Lauridsen “Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo” by Malcolm Arnold and “Slava!” by Leonard Bernstein. Conductors are Dr. Kevin Gray Richardson, and graduate students Brooke Humfeld and Justin Hensley.
