Reid Joins Outpatient Behavioral Health

Dr. Pamela Reid

Oct. 5, 2012. Dr. Pamela Reid, a board certified psychiatrist, has joined Appalachian Regional Healthcare System’s Outpatient Behavioral Health program at Cannon Memorial Hospital.   

Dr. Reid completed her internship and residency at the UNC Hospital system in Chapel Hill, NC and received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. She was in private practice with offices in Raleigh and Chapel Hill for many years, providing psychotherapy and psychopharmacology to patients of all ages.    

Prior to coming to Linville, Dr. Reid provided inpatient psychiatric care at Holly Hill Hospital in Raleigh, NC, psychiatric consultations in the Emergency Department at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC, and was a consultant for Womack Army Medical Center’s Department of Behavioral Health.  She also served as an attending physician on the women’s unit at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh, NC, as medical director at Therapeutic Alternatives in Randleman, NC and as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UNC Chapel Hill. 

Dr. Reid’s expertise and experience centers around co-morbid medical and psychiatric conditions, autoimmune and neuroendocrine disorders, mood, anxiety and psychotic spectrum disorders, as well as addictions and substance abuse, acute stress responses and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  She enjoys working with patients of all ages and works with each to design a treatment plan based on their specific goals and needs.
