Register Your Third to Sixth Grader for Watauga County Parks and Recreation Mighty Mountaineer Basketball

Oct. 12, 2012. Watauga County Parks and Recreation is currently accepting registration for Mighty Mountaineer Basketball Clinics. Participants must be in the third, fourth, fifth or sixth grade. The program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of basketball in a stress free environment.

Clinics are run by Ryan Goodson, local AAU coaches and basketball teams from Lees-McRae College, Appalachian State University and Watauga High School. The seven individual clinics run from Oct. 16 through Dec. 1, 2012.

The registration fee is $15 for the first session and $5 for each thereafter. If you register for four or more sessions, you get a free clinic T-shirt provided by Watauga County Parks and Recreation. Register now for any or all of the sessions.

Girl’s Basketball

Watauga County Parks and Recreation is currently accepting registration for Mighty Mountaineer Girls Basketball. Girls must be in the fifth or sixth grade and attend school in Watauga County to be eligible. The program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of basketball in a stress free environment. Additionally, each player will play in every quarter.

Teams meet approximately three times per week for games and practices. Games are played weekday evenings and Saturday mornings with the season running from late October to mid-December.

The recreation department will provide each child with a team jersey to keep at the end of the season. The registration fee is $55 per participant and must be submitted with the registration application. All participants must be registered with Watauga County Parks and Recreation no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012.
