On June 27, investigators with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a break-in at a business on Linville Falls Highway in Pineola. The owner of the business reported a camera and several other items missing from the business.

The owner and investigators were able to view digital video of the suspect inside the business attempting to conceal his identity by covering himself with burlap sack. Now dubbed the “Burlapped Bandit,” the suspect removed the burlap from his face in order to steal the cameras.

The suspect was identified as Brian Crowder. A warrant was issued for Crowder and he was arrested late on June 29. He was placed in the Avery County Jail under a $15,000.00 bond.
