‘Quilt Day’ and ‘Veggie Grilling Day’ All in One at the Ashe County Farmers Market Saturday, Aug. 11

Aug. 7, 2012. Calling all quilters! Come to the Ashe County Farmers Market for a great day of learning the art of quilting and just plain fun from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Look for the Big Tent setup in the grassy area behind the shelter and bring your machine and a chair (electricity available) to the free Class and Demonstration put on by individuals from the Quilt Guild and our on Doris Phillips.

There will be kits available to purchase at $20 per kit. Also, there will be an Autumn French Braid Table Runner available that the Quilting Guild is raffling off. All proceeds from the raffle goes to support their efforts in the County. They provide quilts and accessories to burn out victims, children of domestic violence, the senior centers, our military and other groups or victims. If you would like to be apart of the Quilters Guild, please talk to any member for the times and date they meet.

Also, Chef Ric Cain will be demonstrating how to cook several different Veggies on the Grill. Ric always has great creative ideas for cooking veggies, meat, fish or what ever you can cook on a grill. All veggies will be provided from produce vendors at the Market.

Also, the ACFM is now accepting EBT Cards, so come get your fresh nutritional produce and baked breads. The Saturday Market opens at 8 am – 1 pm and don’t forget the Wednesday Market, also open from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Remember, it has to be Home Grown or Handmade to be sold at the Ashe County Farmers Market.
