Pics of Snowfall on First Day of Spring

On the first day of spring, Mother Nature dropped about one to two inches of snow on the mountaintops in the High Country, according to, and a dusting elsewhere.

“All the stuff that bloomed in the extended warm stretch is feeling the pain this morning. We have freezing temperatures again tonight with diminishing wind,” according to a forecast by “A warming trend begins Tuesday: back to seasonal temperatures Tuesday afternoon, add another 10 degrees Wednesday. The next front arrives late Thursday night with rain beginning Thursday afternoon.”

Sugar Mountain Resort reported it received 1 inch of snow on Sunday.

Spring officially started at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday and by mid afternoon, snow was falling across the High Country.
