Sept. 11, 2012. The On The Same Page Literary Festival sponsored its second Page Crafters Prize writing competition in 2012. Winners of the competition will be recognized on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Ashe County Public Library.
The competition was designed to encourage and acknowledge emerging writers and to reinforce the annual theme of the On The Same Page Literary Festival. In 2012, the festival’s theme is “Journeys.”
Page Crafter’s Prizes were awarded for first, second, and third place in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Prize money totaling $1,200 will be presented: $250 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place in each category.
Winners of Page Crafter prizes this year are as follows:
Fiction:
Third place: Peg Steiner, Asheville
Second place: Diana Renfro, Grassy Creek
First place: Lynda Black, Wilkesboro
Nonfiction:
Third place Christopher Jones, Todd
Second place: Brenda Morris, Palmyra, VA
First place: Pierrette Stukes, West Jefferson
Poetry:
Third place: Karen Luke Jackson, Hendersonville
Second place: Scot Pope, Creston
First place: Marsha Walters, Fleetwood
In addition to receiving their awards, several winning writers will read their work during the Saturday, Sept. 15, 2:30 p.m. event.
