The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office has issued a BOLO – “be on the lookout”- for a dark or navy blue Subaru sedan with a loud exhaust in the area of U.S. 321 North.

On Friday afternoon, a deputy with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office was engaged in a “short vehicle chase” with the Subaru in the Sugar Grove area before losing the vehicle.

During the pursuit, dispatch received a call that items were being thrown from the suspect’s vehicle near the intersection of Rominger Road and U.S. 321 North. For at least two hours, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office personnel were searching the roadside near the intersection.

According to an incident log by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement found a safe with jewelry, cash and coins along the roadside in addition to needles and Sudafed. Sudafed, of course, features the active ingredient called pseudoephedrine and is used to manufacture meth.

This pursuit was the first of two since Friday. On Sunday night, the Boone Police Department and the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office were engaged in car chase, where the suspect vehicle reached speeds of up to 100 mph. For more on that story, click here.
