April 26, 2012. In preparation for its opening May 1, F.A.R.M. Cafe (Feed All Regardless of Means) announces a few leadership changes.
Renee Boughman, who has led the non-profit 501(c)(3) organization as president of the board of directors since early 2010, has been hired by the board as executive director. She will be in charge of daily operations at the pay-what-you-can cafe.
Boughman has 25 years of chef experience in High Country restaurants, most recently at The Best Cellar and Rowland’s Restaurant at Westglow Spa and Resort. Her F.A.R.M. Cafe staff consists of part-time employees Jennifer Seaver, assistant manager, and Susan Tate, volunteer coordinator.
The board of directors is now led on an interim basis by Laurel Elam of Boone, who serves as vice president. A president will be named at a later date.
Five new members have joined the board of directors this spring. They are Sarah Loveless of Valle Crucis, Amanda Ward of Vilas, Julie Farthing of Banner Elk, Arnie Nelson of Valle Crucis and Winston-Salem, and Mary Wood of Valle Crucis.
F.A.R.M. Cafe opens May 1 for lunch Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located at 617 W. King St. inside Boone Drug, across from Mast General Store.
