May 28, 2013. About three weeks ago, Nathan Miller, chair of the Watauga County Board of Commissioners and lawyer with the Boone-based firm Miller & Johnson, filed a document with the N.C. State Board of Election stating the possibility of his candidacy for District Attorney in the 24th Judicial District in the 2014 election.
In an email on Tuesday, Miller said he created the candidate committee titled, “Nathan A. Miller for District Attorney” and filed it with the N.C. State Board of Elections “to gauge how much support I might have.”
He added, “Though it hasn’t been a month since I filed the exploratory committee, I have been overwhelmed with the support I have received from the people I have talked with.”
Miller said he hasn’t decided whether or not he will actually run for the office. The deadline to file for the 2014 election is February.
The 24th Judicial District is comprised of Avery, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga and Yancey counties.
