N.C. Lottery Update: Six Players Win Prizes for $150,000 to $4 Million This Week

Since last Thursday, six players across the state scratched and matched their way to prizes from $150,000 to $4 million.

The biggest win of the week went to Ernesto Mellon Jr. of Newport, who is the second player to win the $4 million top prize in the 100X The Cash game. He plans to use a portion of his winnings to pay off his home and save for the future.  {Read More}

Patricia Everhart, a homemaker from Lexington, says that she’s had a lot of luck playing the lottery’s Millionaire 7’s scratch-off game. Her claim was backed up on Thursday after she won prizes of $20, $40, $500 and $1 million. {Read More}

Joshua Moore, a landscaper from Mountain Home, plans to use a portion of his $500 a Week for Life! prize to send his daughter to college. {Read More}

Creedmoor resident Vester Ormsby is the latest player to win big playing Carolina Cash 5. His Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers in the June 12 drawing to win the $234,265 jackpot. {Read More}

Michael Williams, a chef from Asheville, said he woke up the Saturday before last in a good mood. Before the day would end, he’d have the good fortune to win $150,000 playing the Trucks & Bucks game. {Read More}

From June 12 through June 18, instant players won $19.7 million and draw game players won more than $3.7 million, including $3.4 million from North Carolina draw games Pick 3, Pick 4, Cash 5 and All or Nothing. Since last weekend’s drawings, Mega Millions and Powerball players won more than $306,000 in prizes. In all, players won more than $23 million in prizes statewide.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.8 billion for the state. Net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, for school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
