May 9, 2013. What could be more relaxing after a hard week’s work than lounging in a beautiful garden and enjoying live music in the warm summer sunshine with friends?

For their fourth year, Ragged Gardens Inn in Blowing Rock brings that little piece of paradise to life every Friday night from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the inn. This year’s music roster features the Harris Brothers, Soul Benefactor, Smokey Breeze and many more each weekend this summer.

The summer music lineup is as follows

  • May 10 – Harris Brothers
  • May 17 – Worthless Son in Laws
  • May 24 – Harris Brothers
  • May 31 – Nautical Wheelers
  • June 7 – Harris Brothers
  • June 14 – Soul Benefactor
  • June 21 – Harris Brothers
  • June 28 – Smokey Breeze
  • July 5 – Harris Brothers
  • July 12 – Worthless Son in Laws
  • July 19 – Harris Brothers
  • July 26 – Soul Benefactor

The family friendly events have become well known in the downtown area as one of the best places to start off the weekend and unwind after work.

“We have a whole acre of gardens here and we wanted to do something different outside,” said Rob Dyer, co-owner of Ragged Garden Inn. “My partner Lisa Stripling and I came up with this and its been something that we have really enjoyed bringing to the community.”PIC_0203e

Other than live music, Music On The Lawn also boasts a full outdoor bar and small finger foods for guests to enjoy. They also host non-profit organizations such as the Watauga Humane Society in order to raise awareness and help out local organizations.

Regulars, residents and visitors alike come out each Friday in the summer to soak it all in, sometimes as many as 400 people at each concert. The shows are played by bands that are local to the High Country, and the concert dates are already completely booked through September.

The concerts are all free of charge and family friendly, however, no outside food or drinks are permitted, and pets are not allowed.

Free music, tasty food, great people and gorgeous weather. All that’s missing is you, so bring your chair or blanket and settle down to a great show or two this summer.
