July 7, 2014. Modern Automotive recently broke ground on more than 12 acres on U.S. 421 in Boone for its two new dealership facilities, Modern Toyota and Modern Subaru of Boone.

Modern Toyota of Boone is currently located at 665 King St. and Modern Subaru of Boone is located at 199 N.C. 105 Ext.  Modern purchased the Toyota store in 2009, and the Subaru location in 2012.

“We are very grateful to our customers in the high country who have supported our dealerships since we opened here, which has allowed us to invest in new, more comfortable facilities, and further demonstrate our commitment to the area,” said West Fowler, dealer principal.

Modern Toyota currently employs 40 employees and will expand to 50, and Modern Subaru will expand from 21 to 30, consisting of new and preowned sales, service, parts, administrative, and reconditioning.

The new facilities will include such conveniences as enclosed heated service drives, comfortable customer lounges with fireplace, WiFi, and fresh coffee and bagels daily.  Service capacity will increase at Toyota from 9 service bays to 19, and Subaru from 8 service bays to 14.  Toyota will stock 120-plus new vehicles and Subaru will stock 80-plus.

Tim Nelson will remain General Manager of both dealerships, with West Fowler as dealer principal.

Completion date for both facilities is slotted for February 2015. Modern will plan grand opening events for the stores shortly after opening.

Modern Automotive, established in 1933, is a family-owned business that sells more than 15,000 vehicles per year and has approximately 850 employees. Locations include Modern Chevrolet, Modern Nissan, Modern Toyota and Modern Infiniti in Winston-Salem, Modern Infiniti in Greensboro, Modern Nissan and Modern Hyundai of Concord, Modern Nissan of Lake Norman, and Modern Toyota and Modern Subaru of Boone.
