Meet Modern Impressionist Plein Air Painter Monique Carr at Alta Vista Gallery Oct. 22

You’re invited to meet award-winning Modern Impressionist plein air painter Monique Carr on Saturday, Oct. 22Hear her story at Alta Vista Gallery in Valle Crucis, NC, at the opening reception for her new show, “Plein Air Fragrances,” which is hanging now through Nov. 14.  The event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and refreshments will be served.  Bring friends!

Gallery owner Maria Santomasso-Hyde says, “Carr’s new paintings bring so much joy!  There is even an exclamation point hidden in each one!  Her strong use of color and thoughtful eye for composition make her one of the bestselling painters in my gallery.”

Carr says she named her show “Plein Air Fragrances” because she hopes that her new paintings will impart a freshness to the viewers, like the fresh air she enjoys while painting outdoors.

“The fragrance of the air is one of my favorite parts of painting en plein air, and also the closeness to nature makes me appreciate the beauty all around us,” says Carr.

Featuring 22 new oils, all painted outdoors or from plein air studies, the show includes a variety of subjects, such as rivers, mountains, valleys, and a variety of flowers.  The show offers a variety of canvas sizes, ranging from 24 by 30 inches, down to 6 by 6 inches, small enough to sit on a tabletop easel or inside bookshelves.
