Looking Glass Gallery Issues Call For Submissions

Nov. 6, 2012. The Looking Glass Gallery is accepting exhibition proposals for the final show of the fall semester, as well as proposals for the spring 2013 semester. This is an excellent opportunity for Appalachian State University students to exhibit their artwork, receive peer feedback and gain firsthand experience with the gallery submission and exhibition process.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Nov. 14. Proposals should be turned in to the Office of Student Programs on the second floor of the Plemmons Student Union or by email to Erin Taylor, gallery curator, at LookingGlassGalleryASU@gmail.com.

Dates available for fall exhibits are Nov. 26-14. Dates available for spring 2013 are Jan. 14-Feb. 5, Feb. 12-March 5 and March 20-April 12. All dates are subject to change.

To apply, the artist must submit a completed application form, along with an artist statement, artist biography, and a CD or PowerPoint presentation with images of a cohesive body of work.

Application forms are available on the Looking Glass Gallery website at www.lookingglassgallery.appstate.edu. Printed application forms are located outside the Department of Art office on the second floor of Wey Hall outside the gallery in Plemmons Student Union. Solo, duo, group and class exhibits, as well as performance and installation are welcomed.

To assist with the application process, the gallery website provides a guide for submitting a strong exhibition proposal. Questions or requests for meetings with the curator should be sent to LookingGlassGalleryASU@gmail.com.

The Looking Glass Gallery is located on the first floor of the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University in Boone. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.–10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.–10 p.m. and Sunday from noon–10 p.m. Gallery admission is free.
