Celebrate the reason for the holiday season this year by driving by or stopping to enjoy a live nativity scene in the heart of Boone from 5:30-8 p.m. on Friday night and Saturday night this weekend, Dec. 11-12.

Three Forks Baptist Association invites you and your family to witness a picture of the scene in which Jesus Christ was born. The portrayal of this manger scene will take place at 1055 Blowing Rock Road in front of Red Gremlin Design and directly across the street from Bojangles.

The scene will be reenacted by members of the Hispanic ministry at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

This depiction of Christ’s birthplace aims to create a visual understanding of the true meaning and reason for celebrating Christmas.

“Come and share your Christian faith by being a witness to those who may not know Christ,” a flyer for the event explains. “Many people driving by on Highway 321 will experience a live nativity for the first time. Your presence will encourage them.”

The live nativity scene in Boone is part of the greater collaborative “Bethlehem and Beyond” initiative, which works with local churches to organize events and share information to encourage and influence family, friends and neighbors to focus on the birth of Jesus Christ as the focus of the Christmas holiday.
