Western North Carolina Alliance Presents ‘Wild & Scenic Film Festival’ under the stars in Boone on June 29

June 12, 2013. BOONE — Join Western North Carolina Alliance (WNCA) on June 29 for the Wild & Scenic Film Festival under the stars at Valle Crucis Community Park, in conjunction with Riverfest.

wncaThe theme for the 2013 Wild & Scenic Film Festival is “A Climate of Change.” We’ll show 10 films that highlight issues surrounding energy and climate change, wildlife, environmental justice, agriculture, Native American and indigenous cultures and more.

Wild & Scenic general admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children and students. WNCA is also offering a special membership price, which covers admission and a one-year membership to WNCA. Members receive our quarterly print newsletter and discounted admission to our year-round events and outings, such as butterfly hikes and full moon paddle trips.

Wild & Scenic tickets will be available at the festival or can be purchased in advance online at www.WNCA.org.

Event Highlights:

●      2-6 p.m.—Riverfest

●      7 – 8:30 p.m.—Live music in the park by Boone-based indie rock/alt country band “Worthless Son in Laws”

●      8:30 – 10:30 p.m.—Wild & Scenic Film Festival, under the stars (with an outdoor gear raffle)

●      10:30 p.m.—“Star Party!” Stay after the film festival to discover the Valle Crucis’ night sky!
