It’s Fiber Day at the Ashe County Farmers Market Saturday, June 9 on the Backstreet in West Jefferson

June 4, 2012. Children of all ages, bring your parents out for a fun filled day of learning and just plain fun at the Ashe County Farmers’ Market in West Jefferson. Again this year, Nancy Hoffman will have her loom and spinning wheel there to teach the children of all ages the art of spinning wool and how and what to use to die the yarn. Also, the great shearer Charlie Young will be there to demonstrate the art of shearing sheep. That will take place about 10 a.m. Nancy will have sheep and lambs for a children’s petting rink. There will be something for all ages, so get your sheepskin on and come out the Market for a great day.

Also, don’t forget about our produce and craft vendors that will be there, so come out early. The Saturday Market opens 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Remember, it’s Home Grown/Handmade in Ashe County at the Ashe County Farmers Market.
