Concert Schedule and Information

5:00 – Keith Ward – Cowboy Poet

5:30 – The Worthless Son-in-Laws

7:30 – Pot Luck

Cowboy poet, Keith Ward, grew up in the mountains around Boone raising beef, hay, tobacco and vegetables. He has been around horses all of his life and started writing poetry in childhood.

“My background has given me lots of inspiration for my poems,” says Ward. “Some are purely fictional and some are based on true events that have happened to me.”

Today, he operates the Dutch Creek Trails horse riding operation in Vilas, in addition to writing and performing his poetry.

The Worthless Son-In-Laws formed in Boone in 2004 and blend truck-driving rockers with pastoral daydream soundtracks and meditative, melody-laden pop songs. They combine original compositions with familiar and obscure covers from artists like Merle Travis to Wilco.

The band includes Jimmy Davidson on guitar and vocals, Rob Brown on guitar and vocals and Rich Crepeau on bass guitar. While the members make their living and spend their daytime as professors at Appalachian State University and raising children, music is a common thread, and their passion comes through in every performance.

Potluck consists of three local business owners, Sarah Evans, Luke Fowler and Ben Smith, who like to get together to play renditions of their favorite top forty songs. With a repertoire that includes country, rock, and blues, the trio likes to have fun and share that energy with their audience. Harmony singing and tasteful arrangements make the group enjoyable for all sorts of music lovers.

Potluck will play a special evening performance at 7:30 p.m., following the gallery reception at the Jones House for downtown’s First Friday festivities.
