Inmate Grady Edwards Escapes Work Detail In Roan Mtn. This Morning, Headed Towards Watauga County

Sept. 25, 2012. This morning, inmate Grady Adam Edwards, a non-violent offender walked away from work detail at Northeast Correctional Complex (NECX) Annex located in Roan Mountain, according to Tennessee Department of Corrections (TDOC) spokeswoman Cindy Dunning. 

Standing at 5 feet 7 inches, Edwards was a minimum-custody inmate, convicted of burglary and theft. The TDOC Office of Investigations and local law enforcement are searching for Mr. Edwards. 

According to Steve Frank at WATA 1450, “Two men in a small SUV were seen picking up Grady Adam Edwards, the trio fleeing from the Butler area on U.S. 321 toward the state line, said to possibly be en route to Wilson.”

Frank added that the two individuals are said to be armed. 

Dunning added that he would have been eligible for parole next year. She provided no more details, saying that an investigation continues.
