All High Country Ski Slopes And Hawksnest Tubing Now Open With Great Conditions

All the snow sport resorts were open on Saturday with Appalachian Ski Mtn. and Hawksnest Tubing opening for the first time this season. Beech Mountain opened back up Saturday after being closed for a number of days after their Nov. 24th opening. Sugar Mountain Resort opened back up for skiing on Thursday. Snowmaking temperatures kicked in Wednesday and the resorts have been making snow almost nonstop. With Friday’s snowstorm the resorts were picture perfect postcard beautiful on Saturday and the slopes were full of skiers, snowboarders and tubers.

Appalachian Ski Mtn. began its season with a majority of its slopes open and all of its lifts. Their website reports a 12 – 24 inch base. And they are open for night skiing and ice skating.

Beech Mountain has 8 trails open and four lifts operating. They will be starting night skiing in a week and their ice skating rink is open. Their website reports a 12 – 30 inch base.

Sugar Mountain Resort has 8 trails open and four lifts in service. They do have night skiing as well as tubing and ice skating. Their website reports a 12 – 30 inch base..

And Hawksnest had most of their tubing runs open with lots of snow.

You can find a number of 10 day forecast predicting that nighttime temperatures will fall below below freezing for the foreseeable future even with few nights getting close to 10 degrees.

This is welcomed news for the resorts this year after enduring an extremely warm December last year that had the resorts closed during the important holiday season.
