Gnarly Music Festival Comes to Beech Mountain Resort in August; Early Bird Tickets Still Available

May  18, 2012. A juggernaut of a festival is coming to Beech Mountain Ski Resort from August 9 to 11 – The Festival of Gnarnia. The festival features a diverse lineup like none other to be featured in the High Country. Early bird tickets are available now. From reggae and deadhead to breakbeat and hip hop, the festival features Afroman, Midnite, 7 Walkers, Gramatik, Easy Star All Stars, Break Science and much more.

During August 9th through the 11th, in the year of two thousand and twelve, an event is taking place amongst the oldest mountains on planet Earth. Far beyond the dirty sneakers hidden in the depths of your closet is Eastern America’s highest town, Beech Mountain North Carolina, and The Festival of Gnarnia.

Thursday: Beats Antique, 7 Walkers (Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead, Papa Mali, and George Porter Jr. of the funky METERS), Gramatik, Paper Diamond, ESKMO, Afroman, Eliot Lipp, Heyoka, Machines are People Too, KDSML, Andrew Fletcher’s Silent Movie Theatre

Friday: Tipper, Emancipator, Mark Farina, Dieselboy, Easy Star All Stars, Toubab Krewe, VibeSquaD, Break Science, Gift of Gab, Zoogma, Starkey, Firecracker Jazz Band, Ziggurat

Saturday: 12th Planet, Ott, Papadosio, Midnite, Rising Appalachia, Govinda, The Polish Ambassador, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, The Mantras, Seduction Sideshow, Laura Reed w Shannon Sanders, Brushfire Stankgrass

Three performance areas, interactive workshops, performance arts, healthy cuisine options, bicycle jousting, mud wrestling tournaments, hikes, waterfalls, and vacation rentals set the stage to make this a truly unique and wholesome event. Ski lifts are available for guests to summit the mountain for yoga and meditation workshops or simply to watch the sunset fill a 100 mile view of these breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains.

One can choose from a wide variety of vacation rentals including: private cabins, chalets, and houses, many of which are within walking distance of the resort. Prices are as low as $20 per person, per night when booking with friends. Upgrade to a slopeside rental to watch the event from your porch or even reserve a private cabin with a hot tub. Leave the camping gear and pack some friends instead.
