“We hope parents will encourage their daughter to join our organization because we truly believe that we provide memorable experiences and arm girls with life skills, lessons and opportunities relevant to girls today,” said Marcia Cole, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont. “We would love the opportunity to be a positive influence in the maturation of your daughter’s development, personality and overall growth.”

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont allows girls the chance to learn essential skills in order to deal with issues facing today’s youth such as body image, bullying, peer pressure and sexting. Girl Scouts also have the opportunity to connect with nature, learn wilderness skills and sing camp songs around a campfire at summer camp. In addition, there are numerous programs to help girls learn the importance of health and fitness, as well as educational programs that highlight math and science. Girls also get the opportunity to experience artistic or cultural activities that demonstrate healthy forms of self-expression. And, just as important, girls have the opportunity to work on their social skills, learning about the importance of giving back, treating others with respect while making lifelong friendships.

“We look forward to reaching more girls across central and western North Carolina and making a positive difference in their lives. We are always very excited when new girls join with us and hope this year we can show even more girls what a great experience Girl Scouting is,” Cole stated.

For 100 years, Girl Scouts have been having fun while learning. Throughout the membership year of 2012-2013, GSCP2P will offer age-appropriate programs with real experiences that prepare Girl Scouts for all aspects of life. Girl Scout experiences are also, as much as possible, girl-led and encourage learning by doing.
