Oct. 8, 2012. Florence Thomas Art School is hosting a Gala & Benefit Auction on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 2 -5 p.m. at Boondocks Restaurant in downtown West Jefferson. The gala will include great food and wine, live music and an auction of original works donated by the school’s instructors. There will also be a select few of Florence Thomas’s original paintings for sale separate from the auction.
A variety of items will be included in the auction from paintings in oil and watercolor, to handmade books and hand dyed scarves from well known artists across the United States, including Diane Pike, Norma Suddreth, Harold Frontz, Rachel Nicholson, Betty Hendrix, Joanie Bell, Alan Huston, Sharon Sharp, Lenore De Pree, Margaret Hoybach, Addren Doss, Susan Oliver Fennell, Amy Evans, Cathey Purvey, Jon Houglum and Janine LeBlanc. Also, Robert Way will complete a painting live on-site the day of the auction.
Funds raised from the Gala & Benefit Auction will go directly to the Florence Thomas Art School to help further their mission to provide instruction, exhibition, and experience in the arts and crafts, and will provide the necessary funds to store and preserve the valuable collection of Florence’s paintings for future generations to enjoy.
There is a suggested donation of $25 or more for a ticket to the Gala & Benefit Auction. Visit www.FlorenceArtSchool.org for more information and images of the items to be auctioned. Registrations may be made online or by calling 336-982-2499.
