March 30, 2012. According to reports coming in, and confirmed by the Boone Fire Department, a forest fire is burning off of Highway 421 near the Blue Ridge Parkway bridge. The Boone Fire Department said that was in the Deep Gap Fire Department’s jurisdiction but added that crews from Boone are assisting the Deep Gap Fire Department in fighting the fire currently.
