First Friday Art Crawl: Downtown Boone Comes Alive With the October Edition of This Evening Tradition

Oct. 4, 2013. On Friday, Oct. 4, downtown Boone will be taken over by the monthly First Friday Art Crawl. Like always, this month’s crawl will feature food, drinks and live music with work and exhibitions from local artists. And, as usual, everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some Friday night fun. If you’ve never experienced First Friday Art Crawl, here is your chance to get in on what the locals already know! Head on down to downtown Boone and enjoy a Friday night out on the town. Here’s what is happening this month.

Where to Go:

Art Mart on King Street: Art Mart, which recently relocated to its new King Street location, will celebrate First Friday Art Crawl with an open gallery in the back of the store. Art Mart will remain open until 10 a.m. for this special occasion.

The Jones House: As always, the Jones House, located at 604 West King Street, will be open until 8 p.m. for the art crawl with light refreshments to showcase their new exhibit, “Color of Art in the High Country,” from the High Country Water Media Society. There will be a gallery reception beginning at 5:30 p.m.  

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts: The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, located at 423 West King Street, will be open until 8 p.m. to showcase their exhibition of Hugh Morton’s lesser known photographs. 

Lucky Penny: For the Art Crawl this month, Lucky Penny will be open until 9 p.m.

Shear Shakti: Shear Shakti, located directly above Lucky Penny at 693 West King Street will be offering guests refreshments and will remain open until 9 p.m..

Murphys: Located at 747 W. King St.
Murphy’s will be open until 3 a.m. 

Char: Located at 179 Howard St.
Char will be open until 2 a.m. with the restaurant closing at 10 p.m. this evening. 

Anna Bananas: Anna Banana’s, located at 641 West King Street, will be hosting facepainting by Claire Bilbao alongside wine from glug and snacks provided by Char. As always, they shop will offer their famous “Dance for Discounts!”

Art Walk: Come check out all kinds of artwork and crafts from artists and crafters from all across the High Country. You’re sure to find something unique every time you step through the doors. Art Walk is located at 611 West King Street. This week, they will feature works by watercolorist Mike Ogle.

Gladiola Girls: Located at 549 West King Street, Gladiola Girls will be offering refreshments to patrons as well as showcasing artists Evenlight Eagles and Lillian Tew.
