First Friday Art Crawl: Downtown Boone Comes Alive With the June Edition of This Evening Tradition

June 5, 2014. On Friday, June 6, downtown Boone will be taken over by the First Friday Art Crawl. Like always, this month’s crawl will feature food, drinks and live music with work and exhibitions from local artists. And as usual, everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some Friday night fun. If you’ve never experienced First Friday Art Crawl, here is your chance to get in on what the locals already know! Head on down to downtown Boone and enjoy a Friday night out on the town. Here’s what is happening this month.

Where to Go:

Jones House Community Center


The Jones House Community Center, located at 604 West King Street, will the first Friday Concerts on the Lawn of the summer starting at 5 p.m. featuring Soul Benefactor and Spice Creek Ramblers. Stop by and view the art galleries and purchase prints, and enjoy light refreshments. Current exhibits are Trudy Muegel photography, Renea Reed pantings and Rachel Ballard Bigbey sculpture. The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts
The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, located at 423 West King St. in Boone will host the 11 Appalachian Mountain Photography Exhibit and the William Dunlap exhibit, the Pieces of the Puzzle Exhibit and many more. All three exhibits will be ending on Saturday, June 7, so be sure to view them while you can. For more information, please call 828-262-3017.

Art of Oil

Art of Oil, located at 819 W. King St. will feature music from Eliza Eason with refreshments and snacks for guests to enjoy.

Art Mart & Academy

Located at 681 W. King St., Art Mart and Academy will showcase the products from last week’s Paint Out.

Art Walk
Located at 611 West King Street, Art Walk will feature the artwork of Darlene Holman with refreshments for the evening. For more information, contact Art Walk at 264-9998. 

Doe Ridge Pottery
Doe Ridge Pottery, located at 585 West King Street will be open for studio tours along with demonstrations from studio participants who will be actively working on pieces during the Art Crawl. Old World Galleries
Old World Galleries, located at 697 W. King St will feature artists Wes Waugh, Jane Miller, Gaines Kiker and Morgan Shaw and their beautiful selection of fine and estate jewelry. Wine will be served to guests. For more information, contact Old World Galleries at 828-264-6559.

Anna Banana’s
Located at 641 West King Street, Anna Banana’s will offer refreshments from Char and Glug. Face painting by Claire Bilbao will also be available.  As always, customers can dance for a 10-percent discount on merchandise! For more information, call 828-865-2000.

Char
Located at 179 Howard St.
Char will celebrate Art Crawl with a buy one get one special and a wine special as well. Char will be open until 2 a.m. with the restaurant closing at 10 p.m. Friday evening. For more information, call 828-266-2179.
