Fifth Annual Early Bird Wildflower Walk and Plant Sale Held Saturday, April 28 at Daniel Boone Gardens

April 26, 2012. On Saturday, April 28, the Daniel Boone Native Gardens will host the fifth annual Early Bird Wildflower Walk and Planet Sale from 8 a.m. until noon. There will be a huge variety of native plants to choose from. Admission is free, while additional donations are greatly appreciated.

The Early Bird Plant Sale features the top High Country horticulture growers that bring locally grown wildflowers, herbs and vegetable starts.

Vendors participating in the event this year are: Bella Rooster Garden and Gourmet, Valle Crucis; Carolina Native Nursery, Jefferson; Fun Guy Farms, Newland; Goldenrod Gardens, Zionville; Hawk Mountain Garden Center, Foscoe; Hickory Lane Gardens, Boone; Lamtree Farm, Lansing; Mountain Girl Gallery, Banner Elk; Mountain Landscaping, Warrensville; My Favorite Plants, Todd; Pond Mountain Native Plants, Creston; and the Watauga County 4-H Club.

This season also marks the 49th anniversary of the Daniel Boone Native Gardens, opened in 1963.

The Daniel Boone Native Gardens are located at 651 Horn in the West Drive in Boone and will be open daily, May 1 through October 31. Admission during the regular season is $2 for adults, free for children under 16.
