Fall Photo of The Day: Elk River Falls

Although leaves have peaked in the High Country, autumn remains colorful and vibrant, as demonstrated in this photo from Elk River Falls, located near the North Carolina-Tennessee border. According to Dr. Howie Neufeld, Appalachian State University professor of biology and "Fall Color Guy," locations lower than 3,000 feet above sea level are still working their way up to peak, while those below 2,500 feet are still predominantly green.
