Sept. 10, 2012. The unofficial kick-off of autumn in the High Country is right around the corner – the Fall Bazaar at Boone United Methodist Church. The event has become so popular over the past 28 years that now thousands attend – in search of hidden treasures and bargains, good food and fellowship.
Located at 471 New Market Blvd., directly behind the New Market Shopping Center, the church’s annual Fall Bazaar will be Friday, Sept. 21, from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Features include furniture, computers and electronics, sports equipment, clothing of all kinds, handmade crafts, Christmas items, jams and jellies, baked goods, new and previewed books and videos, yard sale items, as well as “down home” country cooking.
An Old Fashion Country Breakfast will be served on Friday and Saturday mornings plus lunch on Friday. A silent auction featuring jewelry, china, silver, and many items from local businesses will accept bids on Friday the 21st until 6 p.m.
The Bazaar is one of the church’s main events – involving over 500 volunteers of all ages (3 to 100 to be exact) serving over 6,000 hours. The event benefits the church building fund and local missions.
The Bazaar has evolved into one of the most fun and effective ways of recycling used furniture and other items. This is a major “green” event of the High Country.
