ASU to Install Everts as Seventh Chancellor on Friday, Gov. McCrory and Rep. Foxx to Speak

Dr. Sheri N. Everts will be installed as Appalachian State University’s seventh chancellor tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Holmes Convocation Center on campus and the public is invited to attend.

Judge Gary L. Henderson, an Appalachian graduate, will administer the oath of office.

Speakers at the installation include Governor Pat McCrory, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Appalachian alumnus Rep. Nelson Dollar (NC-36), UNC President Thomas W.  Ross and Chancellor Everts.

Appalachian professor and former poet laureate Joseph Bathanti will read a poem for the occasion.  Special music will be provided by the Appalachian State University Orchestra and Appalachian Wind Ensemble, and a combined choir consisting of the Appalachian University Singers, Chamber Singers, Gospel Choir, Treble Choir and Appalachian Chorale.

A reception for campus and community members will be held beginning at 3 p.m. in Roess Dining Hall on campus.
