by Madison V. Fisler

Oct. 31, 2013. On Nov. 30, Ensemble Stage in Blowing Rock will help to bring in the wintery holiday season with yet another fabulous production.

“It’s a Wonderful Life,” a production that has been called America’s Christmas Carol, will be showing on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Performed in the style of a radio drama, this performance is a treat for anyone looking to kick off their holiday traditions with something a little different.

“Our radio dramas are always really popular,” said Garry Smith of Ensemble Stage.

“All of the sound effects are done live on stage and it gives people a microcosmic insight into the process of putting these shows together. It’s a totally new experience for a lot of people.”

But that is not the last show of Ensemble Stage’s winter season.

In keeping with the annual tradition, “Christmas in Blowing Rock,” will be presented in a “best of” edition with favorites from past shows. This show will run Dec. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. This performance is modeled after TV specials of the 70s complete with song and dance.  During this show, guests will be treated to the “greatest hits” of past “Christmas in Blowing Rock” productions .

To purchase tickets for any of the shows, visit the box office website here and then call 828-414-1844. All performances are held at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium.
