You can catch a production of The Melville Boys by Norm Foster at Ensemble Stage, which provides a whimsical comedy for the whole family and kicks off the season’s theater productions in Blowing Rock.

The show will run from June 25 to July 3 in the Blowing Rock Auditorium and is presented by the professional theater company Ensemble Stage. Tickets for the show are sold on the company’s website with seats ranging from $11-$21 in price.

This will be the first of four productions put on by Ensemble stage for the summer. The company will also be putting on two productions in its kid’s theater for two Saturdays each in July. All upcoming shows by the theater company can be found here.

Ensemble describes The Melville Boys as “a relaxing weekend trip full of fishing, football, and beer is on the agenda for the Melville brothers. But weekend plans are suddenly thrown for a loop when the boys meet two attractive sisters, who inadvertently change more than just their agenda. A lighthearted comedy full of vigor about brotherhood and the unexpected.”

Ensemble Stage is a professional nonprofit theater group in the High Country that has made it a priority to provide locals and tourists alike with theater experiences that will inspire the imagination. It began producing shows in October 2009, and since then has presented 52 different shows and over 200 performances.

In addition to the company’s onstage success, it also contributes to local success by collaborating with Watauga High School and staying active in the community. Ensemble Stage donates time each year to local nonprofit events, including Blowing Rock’s Art in the Park, and has contributed over $1,000 in show tickets to other nonprofits in the area.

This award-winning theater also stays active in its community as a member in the Boone and Blowing Rock Chambers of Commerce, The North Carolina Theater Conference, The High Country Theater League and The High Country Host. It also offers summer camps for kids in the area and holds auditions in October to find new talent for the company.
