Elk Knob Calendar of Events for March

Saturday, March 17 — 3:00 p.m.
Salamanders

What do Northern Gray-cheeked, Eastern Red-backed, Blue Ridge Two-lined and Carolina Mountain salamanders have in common? They are all various names of our native salamanders found at Elk Knob State Park. Come to this one hour program and learn about the different species found in this area. Meet at the park office.

Sunday, March 18 — 3:00 p.m.
Snakes

Ever wonder what snake species are at home in western North Carolina? Join a park ranger in exploring the various snakes in this area and the other unique snake species found throughout our great state. Meet at the park office.

Saturday, March 31 — 7:30 p.m.
The Solar System

Come enjoy the dark skies of Elk Knob and learn about the planets and other celestial bodies in our solar system. There will be a short PowerPoint presentation at the park office followed by viewing of Jupiter, Mars, Venus and the moon through the telescope. Meet at the park office.
