Some residents of the High Country woke up to a dusting of snow before the rain washed it away. The chilly weather will continue through the weekend.

RaysWeather.com’s forecast notes that Boone will have a low of 22 on Friday, low of 19 on Saturday and a low of about 33 on Sunday and Monday.

With plants and flowers popping up after the warm weather of the past few weeks, you might want to cover up your plants or bring them inside. Here’s a website with info on how to protect vegetation during this cold spell.

Here’s a brief forecast discussion at RaysWeather.com, posted Friday morning:

“We have morning clouds with rain showers ending as snow showers. The sun will appear by afternoon; then a secondary cold blast arrives tonight accompanied by snow showers and flurries, ending Saturday morning. Snow accumulation? Not much, only a skiff for most, maybe an inch on mountaintops. Skies clear Saturday afternoon leading to a very cold Saturday night. Temperatures moderate somewhat Sunday afternoon.”

On a side note, Appalachian Ski Mtn. is making snow on Thursday and Friday night in order to build a base for the Melt Down Games this weekend and the Middle Fork Greenway fundraiser on Easter-holiday weekend.
