Dollar General Literacy Foundation Awards $3,000 Grant to Watauga County Library for Summer Programs

May 17, 2012. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced today that it has awarded a $3,000 grant to Watauga County Library in Boone, NC. The funds will be used to further Watauga County Library’s summer programs for children and teens.

“The Dollar General Literacy Foundation appreciates the work Watauga County Library is doing to help students improve their literacy skills over the summer,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “Summer reading helps children continue their education while discovering the joy of reading.”

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards grants to organizations in communities where its customers, employees and their families live and work. The summer reading grant helps libraries and nonprofit organizations implement or expand summer reading programs.
