Copies of ‘Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Service’ Presented to Watauga County Library Sept. 19

Aug. 23, 2012. Watauga County Extension & Community Association are honored to present copies of ‘Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Service’ to The Western Watauga Community Center and to the Western Branch of the Watauga County Library. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m.

The year 2011 marked 100 years of service by the Family & Consumer Science Agents with the Cooperative Extension Service of North Carolina. The celebration in Raleigh included the unveiling of a history book, Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Service. The book features stories from “Home Demonstration Agents” long ago, and also includes volunteer work given by the local “Extension Home Demonstration Clubs.”

Although Agents and Extension Clubs have endured many name changes, their mission remains the same—to extend the education and research based at NCSU to all North Carolina communities. There will also be copies for sale.
