June 5, 2012. BLOWING ROCK — Register for door prizes, pick up coupons and plan your whole summer with fun activities in Blowing Rock! That’s what took place at the Blowing Rock’s Chamber of Commerce annual business showcase; Concierge 101.
Concierge 101 is similar to a crash course of all the fun things to do within the area. Participants learned everything from Grandfather Mountain and Appalachian State University’s Appalachian Summer Festival to the area outfitters and restaurants. Restaurants were there to give samples of their fine foods.
Zak Linkins, from the Chetola Resort, was one of the original ones who began the business showcase four years ago. Linkins states that, “it brings together the front-line staff of local businesses and they mingle with each other, as well as, visitors.”
Every business was there to answer questions, giving directions, and recommendations just like the Concierge at a hotel would do.
Marilyn Brown found out about the showcase online. Marilyn and her husband decided to come and explore what Blowing Rock had to offer and where they could take their children and grandchildren. They were not disappointed and left with an excessive array of brochures.
Annie Haas and her daughter Izzy, 4, enjoyed the evening out at the Tanger Outlets while her husband, who owns Jake’s Great Food Fast, was a vendor. Izzy’s favorite part was winning a Frisbee and getting “yummy” food.
No matter if you were a visitor to the Tanger Outlets passing through or a business in the mix, there was something there for everyone out of the nineteen businesses that were on display.
