Concerts at the Jones House Continue Bluegrassy Evenings with The Dollar Brothers and Carolina Crossing

July 25, 2012. The Town of Boone is proud to continue the 2012 Concerts at the Jones House on Friday, July 27, with a special evening of bluegrass, including The Dollar Brothers and Carolina Crossing.

The Dollar Brothers, a family-centered traditional bluegrass band, will begin the concert at 5 p.m.  Members of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area’s Traditional Artist Directory, the Dollar Brothers includes Darrell, Barry, and Wade Dollar, who have been performing together for nearly three decades – starting as the Timberline Bluegrass Boys in the 1980s.  Today the brothers add banjo player, Tim Norris and bass player, Kevin Miller to complete the five-piece band, and they bring an array of traditional and original bluegrass to the mix.

Carolina Crossing is a newer bluegrass configuration made up of local players, who have been picking for quite a while.  Headed by local electrician and multi-instrumentalist, Gary Trivette, the group includes Curtis Main on banjo, Corey Pittman on fiddle, Blake Vance on mandolin, Tyler Thompson on guitar, and Trivette on bass.  The group brings top-notch picking with tight harmony singing to make one of the most exciting bluegrass bands in the area.

Concerts at the Jones House take place in downtown Boone at 604 W. King St. every Friday from June through September.  The FREE concert starts at 5:00 p.m., and patrons are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to sit in the lawn.  The 2012 Concert series is sponsored by MPrints, Stickboy Bread/Melanie’s, Footsloggers, Mast General Store, and the Downtown Boone Development Association.  For a complete schedule, visit www.boone-nc.org or call 262-4576 for more information.
